While keeping options flexible, we are still aiming to hold our next concert on Sunday 6 December.
Choir rehearsals suspended
There will be no further rehearsals until August when it is hoped that rehearsals for the December concert will begin.
The Messiah at Home
The Self-Isolation Choir, in association with Choraline, will begin an eight week period of rehearsals of Handel's Messiah on Tuesday 31 March at 19:30 BST, leading to a full concert on Sunday 31 May 2020. Proceeds will go to help musicians and soloists whose livelihood has been threatened, and to another good cause to support those most affected by the Covid-19 virus. The musical director is Ben England.
You can now sign up. The cost is £14.95, of which £5 will be donated to support musicians affected by the crisis. Don't worry if you miss the first rehearsal - it will be recorded and you can join it at any time. Choraline have free rehearsal scores for Soprano and Alto and participants will be offered a 50% discount on training tracks for each part. Cyberbass have streamed parts online at no cost (downloadable for a fee).
Ahead of our December 2019 performance with Aberdeen Choral Society, Peter recommended listening to the recording of Messiah by The English Concert & Choir under Trevor Pinnock, available on YouTube or on CD (download on iTunes).
