Catriona Morison - Mezzo Soprano

Scottish mezzo soprano Catriona Morison is in her second year at the Alexander Gibson Opera School of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) where she studies under the tuition of Clare Shearer. She previously studied for a BMus (Hons) and PGDip in Opera Studies at the RCS and at the Universität der Künste, Berlin. On the operatic stage, Catriona has performed the roles of Bianca/The Rape of Lucretia and Nerone/L’incoronazione di Poppea for the RCS, Mercédès/Carmen for Edinburgh Grand Opera, Dorabella/Così fan tutte (cover) for the Banff Centre in Canada, and Cherubino/Le nozze di Figaro for the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. Future engagements include Hermia/A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the RCS and Scottish Opera.

As a soloist, Catriona has performed in numerous oratorios and concerts including Handel’s Messiah; Haydn’s Nelson Mass; Vaughan Williams’s Mass in G Minor and Serenade to Music; J.S. Bach’s Magnificat and St Matthew Passion; and Mozart’s Requiem. She has also performed in the Royal Conservatoire’s Song Studio series and Summerfest to critical acclaim, as well as at the Leeds Lieder+ and Edinburgh International and Fringe festivals. This coming April, Catriona will become a Samling Scholar and will appear in concert at The Sage Gateshead.
