Elinor Rolfe Johnson - Soprano

Elinor Rolfe Johnson is a lyric-coloratura soprano studying with Wilma Macdougall.  She has taken part in sessions and master-classes with Dame Felicity Lott, Barbara Bonney and Joan Rodgers. As a Cambridge graduate Elinor has had opportunities to perform in Oratorio, Opera and as a recitalist.

She has performed at venues including the Wigmore Hall, Snape Maltings, St. George’s Hanover Square, St. Martin in the Fields, Canterbury Cathedral and Chester Cathedral.  She has also performed as a soloist with the European Union Chamber Orchestra, for the Aix-en-Provence and Beijing Opera festivals working with English Voices and has toured throughout France with Oxford Voices.

She performed at the Wigmore Hall as a finalist in the 2009 Great Elm competition and was a finalist in the 2010 London Handel Festival singing competition.

She is studying for her Masters in Opera at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she is a scholarship holder and very kindly supported by the Russell Sheppard Trust Vocal Scholarship and the Richard Stapely trust.

Elinor has just sung Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at RCS (June 2012) and in July she performed the role of the Dew Fairy and covered Gretel for Clonter Opera. Future engagements include Drusilla in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione de Poppea for the RCS and in December she will tour with the Israel Camerata in Israel, with Purcell's Ode to St Cecilia. In 2013 Elinor will perform the role of Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream by Britten for the RCS and the role of Ismene in Orpheus by Telemann for the Classical Opera Company.
